We've all been there: you spend precious time creating a flawless face of makeup, only to have it melt, smudge, or fade by midday. Frustrating, right? But fear not, makeup lovers! With a few simple tips and tricks, you can ensure your makeup stays put from morning to night.

1. Prep Your Canvas:

  • Cleanse and Exfoliate: Start with a clean, smooth base. Cleanse your face to remove any dirt, oil, or traces of previous makeup. Exfoliate 1-2 times a week to remove dead skin cells, which can interfere with makeup application and cause it to look patchy.

  • Moisturize: Hydrated skin is happy skin! Apply a lightweight moisturiser to your face and neck. This creates a smooth, even surface for your makeup to adhere to and prevents it from settling into fine lines.

  • Prime Time: Primer is your best friend for long-lasting makeup. It creates a barrier between your skin and makeup, helping it to grip better and preventing it from sliding around. Choose a primer that addresses your specific skin concerns, such as oil control, pore minimising, or hydration.

2. Choose the Right Products:

  • Long-Wearing Foundation: Opt for long-wearing foundations with a matte or satin finish. These formulas are designed to resist sweat, oil, and humidity.

  • Waterproof/Water-Resistant Products: Consider using waterproof or water-resistant mascara, eyeliner, and eyeshadow. These products will withstand sweat, tears, and even rain.

3. Application Techniques:

  • Less is More: When it comes to foundation, less is often more. Apply a thin, even layer and build up coverage as needed.

  • Blend, Blend, Blend: Seamlessly blend your foundation, concealer, and powder using a brush, sponge, or your fingers.

  • Set with Powder: Lightly dust your face with translucent powder to set your makeup and absorb excess oil.

  • Setting Spray: This is a must-have for any makeup lover! Setting spray locks your makeup in place, preventing it from fading, smudging, or transferring. Lightly spray at teh end of application.

4. Touch-Ups Throughout the Day:

  • Blotting Papers: If you have oily skin, or if it is a hot day, having blotting papers with you to absorb any excess oil throughout the day is a great tip.

  • Touch-Up Powder: Re-apply a small amount of translucent powder to areas that tend to get oily, such as the T-zone.

  • Lip Color Refresh: Reapply your lipstick or lip gloss as needed.

By following these tips, you can enjoy long-lasting, flawless makeup that will stay put all day long. If you need help Lisa Russell MUA, is your gal! www.lisarussellmua.com
